Fairwinds is an established master-planned residential and resort community located 20 minutes north of Nanaimo. The community, popular with retirees, is anchored by Fairwinds Golf Course and Schooner Cove Marina — a 350-berth marina with direct access to the Strait of Georgia.
Fairwinds has an existing 727 homes, however a recent announcement to build more diverse housing on the remaining 300 hectares of developable land will provide for nearly 2,100 units, and allow a wider variety of style of housing, including 360 condos on the waterfront portion of the property.
The existing development plans could bring more than 10,000 people to Nanoose Bay, which had a population of approximately 5,674 in 2011
47 per cent of the property has also been set aside for parks and green space.
